Blanes

  • by

The city known as the “gateway to the Costa Brava” boasts one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Catalonia. From the ruins of the castle of El Castell de Sant Joan (from the 11th century), located at an altitude of 175 meters, you can admire the spectacular panorama of Blanes. There is a long, sandy beach here and, what is the most characteristic of this town – Sa Palomera, a rocky islet rising straight from the Mediterranean Sea, connected with the mainland by a small isthmus. In addition to enjoying the phenomenal views from the castle, it is also worth going downstairs and strolling the streets of the old part of Blanes (especially the Dintre passage and the streets of Amble, Nou and Raval are recommended), or simply lying on one of the longest beaches on the Costa Brava. The city is a popular tourist resort, with many hotels and restaurants, often chosen for holidays with children.
